When you were born & raised in Kentucky,
this is what the first Saturday in May means to you:

The thunder of the horses...
{You can literally feel the ground move under your feet as the horses run past}

Mint Juleps made as pretty as possible...

BIG hats to go with BIG Southern personalities.

{The personalities get bigger & bigger with each mint Julep...}

The certainty that this will be the year that your trifecta will come in...

knowing that there is no greater thrill than the 1.25mile run.
know as the Run for the Roses...

being able to call the most exciting two minutes in sports your own...

THE KENTUCKY DERBY!

I would love to attend the Kentucky Derby at least once in my life. I enjoy watching horse races. Really love the Seabiscut movie...

Very cute post Liz. I actually watched it this year (on tv of course) and thoroughly enjoyed it, except for feeling sorry for those poor horses trying to run fast in all of that mud!

Hi Liz!
Wonderful post!
I'll never forget my first ( and only) Derby, it was such a tremendous thrill. And such fun getting dressed up and picking out my signature hat. Good times. :-)
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
