Spring centerpiece....

My centerpiece for Spring and Easter....
I usually pull this tray/bucket/box
out when we entertain casually,
and put the paper plates, napkins
 and utensils on each side....
but, I thought I would try it out as
a container for my Spring centerpiece.
I had the girls help me fill it
with grass from the yard,
and then I placed my candles in it.
I threw in some speckled eggs
for a subtle Easter feeling
that could stay up after Easter for a Spring look too.
Quick and easy,
which is what I was going for
this year.

Wheat grass.....

I wanted to share with you this great post
on how to grow wheat grass for Easter * spring

She says:
Sprouting wheat grass is super easy.
 Promise.

1. Gather some wheat kernels
(I used hard red wheat)
or go to your local health food store and
tell them you want to sprout wheat grass
and they should point you in the right direction.

Soak them in water overnight.

2. Sprinkle over soil in containers and
lightly kind of mix it in,
but you don’t want them covered with dirt.
Spray water daily to keep moist.
Mine was pretty sparse last year,
so I layed it on thick this time and
was much happier with the results.

3. Watch it grow!!
Mine has been growing for 2 weeks and
 I’ve already given 2 haircuts.

These are tins from Target Dollar Spot:

4. If it starts looking limp, water.
An Easter basket in the kitchen for spring:
5. Cut it with scissors if you want to.
It smells so good when it is being cut!
Just like a freshly mowed lawn in the summer…

Happy grass growin’!

bunnies in the kitchen.....

A few more bunnies popping up
around the cottage....
My vintage rabbits....
One is paper mache,
and one is a chalk figure.
They hang out in the kitchen.
Making sure all is well this Easter,
but not taking up too much valuable space.
Aren't they so sweet?
Easter is such a precious time for me.
Both in the sweet decor that comes with this time of year,
and in the true meaning of Easter.

hippity-hoppity touches.....

Easter is just around the corner,
so I have added some little
bunny touches
 around the house......
a grassy moss bunny....
and a woodland bunny under a cloche....
I've got a few more Easter touches
to share tomorrow.
It is hard to believe
that it is already time for Easter!

Easter everywhere....

Easter has hopped up all
around the Covington Cottage...

some places you have to look
harder for items than in others...
but there is a little Spring
and a little Easter all around.

You can check out other Easter
sprinkled though out my home here ...

A time of reflection...

Easter is on its way....

And we are ready for it
here at the Cottage on Covington.

I love to use eggs and nests
when decorating for Easter.
To me, it represents new life, and
 the Resurrection of the Lord.
Even though the Easter bunny will
come to our house and bring us
lots of goodies....
I don't want Easter to be just
about what my girlies will be getting
in their baskets.
I want it to be a time of reflection
for our family
of what our Saviour
has already given for us.
Even though we are all set for
the Easter egg hunts,
and the Easter bunny to come,
and for us to fill our bellies too full after
Church on Easter Sunday,
I will be thinking
of what great love my Saviour has for me.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In his great mercy he has given us new birth
into a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead...
~ 1 Peter 1:3.
Happy Easter, ya'll!

Easter...

Easter
I know that Easter is well over.
The baskets and bunnies have been stored away.
The eggs have been found and eaten....
....but I am just now getting around to
sharing my Easter picts with you.
As I posted in an earlier entry,
My hubby was able to be home with us for Easter
before returning to Afghanistan.
Such a blessing to wake up on Easter morning with my whole family,
To be able to worship in church with my whole family,
To eat Easter dinner with my whole family,
To celebrate a holiday with my whole family.
The Easter bunny brought my girls sock monkeys.
They were named Oso and Alley Easter morning bed heads...
The Easter egg hunt after Easter dinner
at my mom and dad's house.
My mom and Mary-Morgen hunting.
We started out calling my mom "Grandmother".
Of course little children have a hard time pronouncing grandmother,
so in an attempt at saying grandmother
my youngest daughter started calling her "Mugga".
So now, she is mugga to all grand and great grand children.
My nephew Ben on the hunt ....
Katie on the hunt...
Mary-Morgen on the hunt...
I love how Mary-Morgen looks like an Easter egg in her dress.
notice the pink Chuck Taylor high-tops with the dress.
my dad with Ben on the hunt...
My father also started out as "Grandfather"
and the same attempt made by the same little girl
lead to "FaFa".
Needless to say he is now known as fafa
to all grand and great grandchildren.
by the way my mom told me that they
found an egg yesterday that never got found.
{we use real eggs, so you can imagine the smell, at least in was outside}
part of the family in my mom's back yard on the hunt ...
could not take enough pictures this day....
Such precious memories,
made even more precious with hubby home.

Happy Spring!

He is risen!
