kitchen

My kitchen....

It is a bit farm-country,
a bit rustic,
and a bit shabby....

but then again so is my entire house.

It doesn't fit into one category.
But I like it that way....
I don't fit into one category either!

As you can see by the use of them
through out the entire kitchen,
I am a bit obsessed with scales.
I adore my concrete counter tops.
I don't think I will ever tire of them.
(and I tire of things pretty quickly sometimes)

I love the rustic feel of it all,
and then a crystal chandelier thrown in.

The contrast is great.
there ya have it!
It's tiny, but it's practical.
(especially since I never only occasionally cook)

white floors....

My latest and greatest obsession...

PAINTED WHITE FLOORS!

I mean just look at how they make a room
look instantly cool, calm and clean.
{these images found here}

They go with any style decor,
and they make color just pop.

They are even able to bring this Versace style
down a notch or two, to make it
a livable interior.

and of course, my favorite way to pair it,
with a shabby chic, cottage style.

These floors take the cake though.
I love how they embraced the timeworn floor that
was there before.

I have been mentioning the whole white floor thing to Hubby lately.
Our floors are in desperate need to refinishing,
but it would be SO much easier to paint them .

Needless to say,
he has not yet bought into the idea.

Working on that though....

a table moved....

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while....
My computer got stepped on, dropped, tossed, _________
{add your own guess}
by the "ididntdoitmusthavebeenher trolls"
The screen now looks like a lava lamp.

I am hoping it can be repaired.
For now I am using hubby's laptop.
It feels strange not to have my old faithful.

Any who,
I wanted to show you a table that I moved a corner
in my dining room...

I love the mix of a shabby old table
elevated by throwing some crystal candelabras on it.
This is the caddy that I move in and outside
for outdoor dining.
It is filled with old ball jars
that hold utensils....
and then finally,
a pair of old shutters behind everything
to fill the corner....

This is what the table used to look like,
before it got a fresh coat of paint
and a new location....

You can click here to see what landed in the spot
that this got stolen from....
Have a great Monday!

new window treatments...

Ok, so I really am VERY settled on these window treatment....
I know I just did the burlap treatments,
but I just wasn't completely satisfied with them.
They are staying in the rotation.
I just think I am going to save them for the fall
when I need some earth tones and burlap....
I waited until Hubby went out of town
before I sneaked hung them up.
A few days later,
He said, "are those new?"
Well by then, the honest answer was no....

I have a loose definition of new.
Happy Day, ya'll!

A buffet for outside...

As I said in my last post,
the Hubby and I have been working on the outside lately...

One of the new additions to the outdoor living area is
this buffet...
I just love it,
and it will make a great area to serve from.
I am going to put a dining table near it...
I just love it!
Back yard is almost completely done!
Actually, it's never done...

...but it looks good for now!

what I drug home...

Remember when I posted about
what I drug home in this post?

well, here it is...
a huge 12' ladder!
It was sitting out on the side of the road....
Someone was actually getting rid of it!
SHOCKING, I know....
I thought I would clean it up and take it in to the shop to sell,
but it looks sooooo good leaned up against this old tree
that I think it will be staying as long as I can keep hubby talked into it.

You should have seen hubby's face on this one.
He could NOT believe that this had found its way to the cottage,
but once I propped it up,
I think he actually liked it.
So, hopefully it can stay.
If not, it will be at LuLu's for sale!

iconic console table...

As I told ya'll in this post
I change things constantly from time to time...

So I thought I would show you
what this console table looks like now....
I gathered all my icons into one place,
and made them into a little collection.
{the experts say to do that, ya' know!}

Because I have a gazillion few collections
through out my house,
I was not planning on emphasizing the icons
as a collection,
but they just looked so good together.
{guess those experts know what they are talking about!}

So, for NOW they reside together on this table...
By the way,
If you read this post
You can see what I decided to do in the picture above.
Happy Day, ya'll!

book shelves...

I don't think I have ever shared
the book shelf in the formal living room...

So, I thought I would share it today...

it is a bit different than most
book shelves you see...
all the books are facing the wrong way...
some even have the covers pulled off...
or have been folded into a set of bookends
or in decorative loops and laid in an old European dough bowl...
and if you know me,
then you know I had to doll it up a bit more than just books turned backwards.
So, an old, old Bible lays open on the shelf...
and the irony of a book folded into a set of bookends...
some coral and some white china...
and finally a few family photos...
wal-law...book shelves, my style.
