ralph lauren...

I am sure everyone saw this interview
that Oprah did with Ralph Lauren
on his Colorado ranch....
 Well, if you didn't,
let me just tell you that I was
not paying ANY attention to what either one
of them were saying....

I was too busy gawking
at the interiors of his home,
his guest tepees,
and his gorgeous family!
above is a picture of some of
 the tepees on the ranch.
They are decorated better than most homes....
 and this out door area,
are you kidding me?
I would not be able to go to work.
I would sit out here all day and all evening.
the picture above and below are the interiors
of some of his tepees.

*swoon*
 another view of the tepees....
and another *swoon*
and if all that were not enough,
look at this gorgeous family!

and this is where that gorgeous family
lives on the ranch...
 it is all so perfect!
It is like he designed every thing in his life.
Even the family members....

as much as I *swoon* and adore all this,
I have to tell you,
I would choose mine everyday of the week.
{maybe just an invite to spend the weekend in the tepee would be nice}

A table under a TV...

This is a corner my formal living room...
Not that it IS formal,
we just call it that.
in this corner of the LR
I have a very big and very old
chest that sits under a unfortunately very large TV.

  I  kept
the accessories on the chest
light and airy
because the chest and the TV
are both so dark and heavy.
So, I used light colored
elements from the sea
under clear glass cloches.
 Some are even souvenirs
that we found on various vacations,
which gives the vignette more meaning for our family.
I like how the clear glass
and the lightness of everything
is such a contrast against the dark wood.
The chest is very rough and shabby.
So that is a contrast against the smooth glass as well.
 So there you have it,
another little corner of the Covington cottage.

Announcing....

I am pleased to announce
the newest addition to the Bradley household...
Her name is Cindy the chandy...
She is actually VERY old, but new to us!
We welcome her in with open arms...
 Oooohhh, she is just sooooo
pretty!
I love how she looks with the other pieces in the room.
I love that she is in the same room as concrete counter tops,
 a white slip covered sofa
and  brown distressed leather chairs.
I love the mix of all the different elements.
In the famous words of Ty Pennington
"Welcome home Cindy,
welcome home."

a new color for an old clock...

Ok, so I finally got around to painting this old clock
that I have been meaning to paint since the day after Halloween.
(this was the best before picture I could come up with)

I wanted to leave it black until after Halloween,
because it just went so well with my whole
black and white Halloween decor.

But now that I am on such a kick
to freshen everything up for Spring.
I thought it was finally time for a new coat of paint.

I could not be happier with the results!
It makes my living room feel so light and bright.
Exactly the look I am going for.
I mean, just look at how different it makes the whole room look!

My hubby asked me if I planned on painting
it black every fall,
and ivory every spring.

I told him that I had not thought of that,
but what a great idea it was!
as he rolled his eyes and walked out of the room.
He hates  adores all of my projects!

A little freshen up...

I gave my mantle a little freshening up
for the Spring that I am sooooo ready for...

I just threw all the candles that I had in my home
up on the mantle and added
a couple shells,
and some branches.

I just wanted simple, clean elements and some nature.
A break from all the business in decor from the holidays.

I know it isn't much, but I kinda like it.
It suits my mood right now.

And after all,
that is what your home is supposed to be...
a reflection of you and who you are.
So, I guess here I am these days.
