Did anyone else shed a little tear?...

Ok, call me sappy...
call me a hopeless romantic...
call me what you like,
but...
 I actually cried watching
the Royal Wedding.

I did not know I was going to...
I did not know I cared THAT much...

But when it came down to it
a tear or two rolled down my cheek.
*sniff* *sniff* *sniffle*
 It was so beautiful,
and seemed so sweet and sincere.

It felt like they really loved each other
and that they were there for themselves
and not for the forty two gazillion viewers.

There is not question that I love, love.
And in a time like this with all of the tragedy and sadness
all around us, it is nice to have some happy, romantic, fairytale distraction!

Long live the fairytale!

dining room...

I thought I would share an over view of
our dining room....
I have shown snippets of this room,
but never an over view of the whole room....
these pictures were taken when I still
had all of our Easter decor up,
so just picture all the bunnies and chick-a-dees gone....
I love my cow hide rug,
clean up is a pressure wash outside.
can't be any easier than that...

I have actually replaced these window treatments
now with the "Spring/Summer" dressings.

Yes, that's right, I dress my windows for Fall/Winter
and Spring/Summer...

Say what you like,
could not be anything I have not
already heard from hubby...

 actually, I have totally changed
the accessories on this console table
that leads into the formal living room...

Wow, I never realized how much this room has changed until now...

This post has now become
"the dining room BEFORE post"

Which means, a
"dining room AFTER post "
is in order...

I will take current pictures of this room next week
just so you can see what a difference a week
makes in this cottage!

Maybe hubby does have a point...
The only thing permanent in this little home
are the people that live in it.

I say to that,
Don't get too comfortable...
Happy day, ya'll!

shells...

I get a little short of breath
when I see the following:

graphics
shells
organization
anything old
and my hubby...

What does all of this have to do with the pictures today?
You are asking yourself....

Well...
In our little
"Library"
as I so pompously like to call it...
{It is actually a little room that I
don't know what else to do with
that is in our up stairs
separating the office and the
master bedroom}....
{{The door you see is to the
office/storage/attic/craft area/place mom refers to when she is yelling,
"Hurry up and hid the crap! Our company is almost here!"}}
You get the idea...

Any who,
I was able to combine all those things
that make me catch my breath in this room.
I used OLD, printer's drawers
that once held letters used to make GRAPHICS,
to ORGANIZE my never ending,
always expanding SHELL collection.

I think it makes an absolutely lovely
display for those smaller shells that may
not command their own cloche
or spot on the coffee table,
but are still magnificent on a smaller scale.

Still you may ask,
"What about the HUBBY part?"
"Where does he fit in to all of this?"

Well, he is the one that hung them for me,
and I got to watch him do it....
Did I mention he is
eye candy?
Well, if not, he is!

Here's to the things that take your breath away!

bathroom refresh....

Ok, so after I posted pictures about our main bathroom here,
I noticed how disheveled and messy
everything looked!
So, I decided to
 freshen things up a bit...
hide all the unlovelies,
and rearrange the pretties...
So, here it is...
all fresh and clean
and looking good.
The towels made the cut and were allowed to stay.
The headbands in a basket were replaced
with a wire basket lined in burlap
 filled with some reading material.

The ironic thing is the only people
who read on the potty are men,
and my reading material is not exactly manly material.

Maybe that was a subconscious decision
so that it will get any fellas that "go" there
to get in and out as quickly as possible.
 Huuummm...

I rearranged the apothecary jars
and the other lovelies on the shelves.
Nothing new, just moved around.
Isn't it amazing what a little moving around can do for a space?

Had to show you the freshened up area,
so that you would not think of me as a messy girl.
However, if you did, you would not be far off!

Fairy garden...

The fairy garden
I made for my girlies...
here is what I started with:
some succulents...
 a zinc planter still housing
remnants of the winter...
 and some mini
fairy garden accessories...
 I cleaned out the planter,
 separated the succulents
and planted them all around,
and just added the garden accessories,
and made a path way with the rocks
that came in the succulents container...

Now, we are just waiting on the fairies to arrive!

If only laying out and
planting my own garden was this easy...

Easter everywhere....

Easter has hopped up all
around the Covington Cottage...

some places you have to look
harder for items than in others...
but there is a little Spring
and a little Easter all around.

You can check out other Easter
sprinkled though out my home here ...

Laundry room update...

an update to the laundry room post...
 I posted about the weekend
hubby and I spent remodeling
 the laundry room here
but I added a few finishing touches
that I wanted to share with you....
 first of all,
I added some window treatments
from Ikea that go from the ceiling to the floor.
They cover up the uglies...
{hot water heater, furnace, necessary uglies, etc...}
next, I hung brooms and dustpans
in different shapes and sizes
behind the washer and drier.

I actually don't hate
being in this room any more!
{Which is a good thing, since
I am spending my day in there today.}
