A day well spent with Tot...

The treasures I brought back from my
day well spent with Tot...
As I posted in this post I got to meet
Teresa (aka Tot)
blogging queen of one of the loveliest blogs ever!
And home owner of one of the loveliest houses ever!
Of course I forgot my camera,
so all I could do was take pictures
of my treasures I bought
from her
and with her
when I got home.
(I got to go junking and to lunch with this gal
before we went to her home!)

No beautiful pictures of her shop.
No beautiful pictures of her home.
No beautiful pictures of her barn.
No beautiful pictures of us becoming friends.
But let me just tell you,
It was ALL so amazing!
I can see by just the few treasures
I brought home with me
what she is all about.
 I loved everything so much
that I went back again this week.
I am going again next week as well!
I think Tot and I will be fast friends.
We are such kindred spirits when it comes
to matters of the home and shop.
Only she is waaaay more talented than I am.
I have lots to learn from her!
Her displays are some of the best I have ever seen.
 I will be posting about
how all of my goodies look
in my home.
I am soooo excited about everything!
I am newly inspired
to work on my home and my shop!
Thank you Tot for a lovely day
and loads of inspiration!
You are amazing!

A table under a TV...

This is a corner my formal living room...
Not that it IS formal,
we just call it that.
in this corner of the LR
I have a very big and very old
chest that sits under a unfortunately very large TV.

  I  kept
the accessories on the chest
light and airy
because the chest and the TV
are both so dark and heavy.
So, I used light colored
elements from the sea
under clear glass cloches.
 Some are even souvenirs
that we found on various vacations,
which gives the vignette more meaning for our family.
I like how the clear glass
and the lightness of everything
is such a contrast against the dark wood.
The chest is very rough and shabby.
So that is a contrast against the smooth glass as well.
 So there you have it,
another little corner of the Covington cottage.

Could this be for me?
My hubby and I
went and looked at this house today...
It is not exactly my typical type of house.
I usually prefer small cozy cottage homes
(maybe because that is all I can usually afford)
But this is actually in our budget.
I am not even believing that!
But then for my hubby and I to go look at it
and both of us like it?
Well that is just unheard of!
There would definitely be a lot of changes,
but the bones are so great
it makes me want to actually
dive in and do it!
So with out further adieu,
here she is...

Ok, so what do you think?
Can you see past that floral sofa
and dated kitchen like I can?
I guess only time will tell
if this is supposed to usher in the next
decade of our life together
(we have been in our current house for 10 years!)
or if it is meant to belong to some other lucky family.
It will take a lot of talking,
dreaming,
and praying,
but I know that God will lead us in the right direction.
Oh, and PS.  think of all the great posts
I would have on the remodel and the move in!

Where I am headed tomorrow...

Tomorrow I will be having lunch
with the lady who owns this home...
I could not be more excited about
her gracious acceptance to meet me!
If these photos look familiar,
it is because
her home has been featured in
Country Living magazine.
 And several other
amazing books and magazines!
 She is so talented!
I can not wait to pick her brain,
and try to absorb everything I can!
 This is her lovely booth
that is located in a three story barn.
 Isn't it just dreamy!
I will have to try to have some
 MAJOR restraint in here!
I will not only be shopping here tomorrow...
but she is giving me a private showing!
I really could not feel more special!
I don't think I have
ever had a private showing of anything!
Much less,
 a private showing of
a little taste of heaven!
You can drool
over this talented gals
home and shop
She has such an amazing blog as well.
I don't know if I will EVER leave this place!

A new centerpiece...

A new centerpiece for the table...
 I am obsessed with cloches,
I am obsessed with these fishing floaters,
And, I am obsessed with this georgous pewter tray...
So, I put them all together
and came up with this new centerpiece
for my dining room table.
I am pretty happy with it!
Happy Tuesday, Ya'll!

Pink pom-poms...

I just felt like pink pom-poms
were in order for today.
No real reason, just a pink pom-pom
kinda day.
so here is the to do list for the day:
  • wrap a birthday present
  • go to a 3 hour birthday party that I will try to be an hour late for
(I believe that birthday parties should only last two hours tops~
unless they are the drop off kind, and then they can last as long as possible)
  • do the laundry and put it away
  • stain and distress the grandfather clock that I painted and showed you in a previous post
  • paint our bar stools (remember to take the before pictures)
  • cut an extra large artist's pallet out of foam board for my girlie's upcoming arty themed birthday party
  • write an article for our Regional Parent magazine on organization (that is due tomorrow)
  • clean out my purse
  • pay bills
  • help girls finish their valentines (they could not be any sweeter)
  • straighten the house
  • get caught up on my recorded reality TV shows
So, I guess I just needed some fluff
before I tackled my to do list!
Pink pom-pom balls do the trick!
Here to getting it all done!....
